Nelumbo ‘Osiris’ was created by Monsieur Latour-Marliac circa 1900.
Choose this variety with our Lotus Kit (40L container + Osmocote fertilizer) and save 10% on those accessories!
This rare lotus has deep pink flowers and remains one of the most striking lotus hybrids. This variety is large in size, reaching 1.5 to 2 M in height, with leaves 40 cm across and 25 cm flowers. Lotus grow vertically, so the surface area they cover will correspond to the size of the planting container. If planted in a mud bottom pond, they may become invasive.
Lotus are as hardy as water lilies, and even more vigorous. What they need in order to prosper is sunlight, a sufficient volume of earth in which to grow, nitrogen-rich fertiliser, and a planting depth that does not exceed 30 cm. Follow planting instructions carefully, lotus rhizomes are fragile.
Lotus may be planted in our 20L containers for one season, but afterwards they must be divided and replanted in those containers, or the mass should be moved to a more voluminous container, such as our 150L lotus tubs.
