This water lily, mature from june, another kind of th Nymphaeacea family, has 1.50m diameter leaves, apple-mould shaped, and big flowers 50 cm diameter.
Hermaphrodit flowers from female white to male red.
Originary from Amazonia, this variety was first cultivated by Mr Paxton, Head-gardener of Duc of Devonshire, in Chatsworth house.
He offered the first flower to Queen Victoria, and named it in her honnor. .
