GUYMAUREL
Large water lily with pads from 16 to 20 cm in diameter, and 14 cm flowers.
syn. Nymphaea 'Jean Laydeker'
Mr Maurel and then his son, Guy, managed Latour-Marliac under the Laydekers from WW II until the late 1980s. Guy Maurel discovered this stunning lily, which surely was an overlooked seedling from the same cross that bore the exceedingly rare 'Tulipformis.' Due to the company politics of the day, Nymphaea 'Guy Maurel' was unceremoniously renamed for a time, but we've now restored the lily's rightful title.
Plant one per 20 litre Latour-Marliac planting container at a depth of 40 to 100 cm in order to have approximately one square metre of surface coverage after a year or two.
