(Latour-Marliac, c. 1910)
NEWTON
Large water lily with pads from 16 to 20 cm in diameter, and 14 cm flowers.
The flowers on this lily are plate-like and sprawling, with a delicate, fresh quality that is highly original. The lily is named after Sir Isaac Newton. Latour-Marliac was an avid reader of history and enjoyed naming plants after his favourite figures (see also N. 'Darwin,' N. 'Masaniello,' etc).
Plant one per 20 litre Latour-Marliac planting container at a depth of 40 to 100 cm in order to have approximately one square metre of surface coverage after a year or two.
