'Comanche' is one of three highly successful copper-toned water lilies that Latour-Marliac introduced in the first decade of the 20th century. The other two are 'Sioux' and 'Paul Hariot'. These lilies are also referred to as 'changeable' because the flowers lighten or darken in colour on each successive day.
The flowers on this plant differ from the others in their form and colour: they are more compact and cup-shaped, and have deeper and more uniform tones of peach and pomegranate.
Plant one per 20 litre planting container at a depth of 40 to 100 cm in order to have approximately one square metre of surface coverage after a year or two.
