Latour-Marliac named this scintillating red variety after the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, also known as the Dog Star. Its flowers are of the deepest red with ruddy orange stamens and pink sepals. Leaves are deeply mottled with maroon, complementing well the flowers. 'Sirius' is easy to grow, blooms profusely, and naturalizes well.
Plant one per 20 litre Latour-Marliac planting container at a depth of 40 to 100 cm in order to have approximately one square metre of surface coverage after a year or two.
