In 10 to 25 cm of water, plant in clumps of at least three for a good effect the first year. Pontederias are easy to grow and vigorous, producing striking blue flowers in July and August. They are also efficient at filtering polluted water. Lanceolata has the same flowers as cordata, but is more than twice as big.
